Community is EVERYTHING
At FMC Books, our community is built one book club and one flash mob at a time. These gatherings aren’t just events—they’re rituals of connection, chaos, and mutual obsession. Whether you're whispering about spice levels over snacks or showing up in a corset to storm downtown with fellow book lovers, you’re part of the magic. We believe in low-pressure meetups, high-impact friendships, and the kind of joy that only comes from giggling about fictional men in public. This is how we make space—for readers, for weirdos, and for each other. (Double check the calendar for the most up to date info, this is a nightmare to update.)
Upcoming Missoula Area Events
-
First Friday w Erin Johnson
Local Missoula artist and illustrator Erin E. Johnson, creator of Fire Sprung Creations, draws inspiration from a lifetime spent exploring Montana's diverse landscapes and communities. Originally from Helena, her journey across the Hi-Line and through Montana fostered a deep appreciation for the animals and wild places that shape life under the Big Sky.
Erin's work combines bold graphic forms, playful organic shapes, vibrant color, and storytelling. Influenced by folklore, mythology, cartoons, graphic novels, and childhood nostalgia, she creates whimsical animal-centered pieces that celebrate humor, curiosity, and the joy found in life's small wonders. -
FMC Garage Sale
Every bookstore has a few secrets tucked away in storage—and we're finally bringing ours out into the sunshine.
Join us for FMC's first annual Garage Sale as we clear out overstock, display pieces, discontinued merchandise, random treasures, and all manner of wonderfully weird bookstore odds and ends. We're making room for the next year of adventures, which means great deals for book gremlins willing to dig.
You never know what you'll find, but we can promise it'll be interesting.
Come hunt for treasure, score a bargain, and help us reclaim our storage space. -
A Taste of Rope: Self-Tie Shibari Workshop
Curious about rope? Join us for a beginner-friendly introduction to self-tie shibari, a Japanese-inspired rope art practice that blends creativity, mindfulness, and self-expression.
Participants will learn basic rope handling, safety fundamentals, and a simple self-tie pattern in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. No partner or prior experience is required.
Whether you're interested in the artistry, the meditative practice, or simply trying something new, this workshop is designed to help you explore at your own pace.
Bring your curiosity. Leave with a new skill—and maybe a new obsession.
