At FMC Books, our community is built one book club and one flash mob at a time. These gatherings aren’t just events—they’re rituals of connection, chaos, and mutual obsession. Whether you're whispering about spice levels over snacks or showing up in a corset to storm downtown with fellow book lovers, you’re part of the magic. We believe in low-pressure meetups, high-impact friendships, and the kind of joy that only comes from giggling about fictional men in public.     We’re thrilled to welcome back Carin Rene as our February First Friday artist, featuring a stunning series of boudoir photographs shot right here in the shop. These intimate, powerful images celebrate confidence, softness, and self-expression—and will be displayed in print throughout the space for the month.

    Date Night: Handled is a fully curated, evening-long experience—beginning in the bookstore and flowing through dinner, art, and hands-on connection—designed so all you have to do is show up and be present. Every detail is thoughtfully arranged to create a romantic, playful night that feels indulgent, intentional, and just a little bit magical.

Traditional Book Clubs

Traditional doesn’t mean boring here — it means consistent, cozy, and community-driven. These clubs read one book together each month and meet to chat, laugh, and fall collectively in love with great stories (and occasionally yell about plot twists).

FMC Book Club
Meets: First Wednesday • 6pm

Our classic, cozy, everybody’s-welcome book club. Each month we pick one title to read together, gather in the shop, and fall collectively in love (or dramatically out of love — it happens). Expect lively discussions, new book-ish friendships, and a warm, supportive space where readers of all kinds can settle in, sip something delicious, and talk stories.

Spicy Lunch Book Club
Meets: First Tuesday • 12pm

A midday escape for the feral girlies, the spice-seekers, and the folks who think lunch tastes better with a little heat. Bring your sandwich, your opinions, and your willingness to blush in public. Zero judgment, maximum giggles, all spice.

Meets: Second Sunday • 2pm

Dragons, quests, portals, fae courts, morally gray men — need we say more? This club gathers once a month to lose ourselves in worlds full of wonder, magic, and adventure. Perfect for readers who like their Sundays with a side of escapism and their swords a little… sharp.

Dark Romance Book Club
Meets: Third Thursday • 6pm

For the romantics who like it twisted, tormented, taboo, or emotionally devastating in the best possible way. If your favorite love stories come with plot twists, wicked villains, impossible choices, or morally questionable men who need a hug and therapy, this is where you belong.

Queer Book Club
Meets: Fourth Saturday • 2pm

A celebration of queer joy, queer stories, and queer readers. This club explores LGBTQIA+ fiction across genres — romance, fantasy, literary, sci-fi, you name it — all through a lens of community, representation, and connection. Expect warmth, belonging, and the occasional happy tear.

This is FMC Books’ signature choose-your-own-adventure book club — no assigned reading, no stress, just a room full of readers talking passionately about whatever they’re reading this week. Bring your current obsession, your hot takes, your TBR pile drama, and settle in for a night of laughter, community, and glorious nonsense. It’s therapy with books. It’s church. It’s everything.
